How is the price of tin calculated?

Whether recycling or selling tin, the same is true: the purer the material, the better. The price of scrap tin depends on many factors. At Schrott24 you can find out about the latest tin price per kg and how the price of tin is worked out. Thanks to our extensive network of scrap dealers, we can offer the best prices for scrap tin. With the help of our intelligent tools, we dynamically match supply with demand. We publish the latest scrap prices on our platform.

What is tin and where does it come from?

Tin is silver-white in color, is rust resistant and non-magnetic. Tin is often used as an alloy component, for instance when alloyed with copper it is made into bronze. It is irreplaceable as a component of metal alloys due to its low melting point. Tin occurs as solder, tin dross, tin oxide, and tin anodes. Due to their visual similarity, tin is often confused with lead and zinc. The difference between the materials is easy to see upon closer inspection. Tin is easy to bend and it buckles rather than breaking like lead, which is similarly soft. In addition, lead is denser than tin and zinc. Unlike tin and lead, zinc cannot be bent or broken. If you hit it against an edge it will bounce off. Since lead, tin and zinc are very similar to look at, we have uploaded an explanatory video on our YouTube channel to help you distinguish between them.
